 WHITE RICE PILAF WITH ALMONDS

A simple recipe that can accompany any meal or be a meal in itself. With the healing touch of spices, herbs and bone broth served with probiotic yoghurt.

Rice Pilaf is first sautéed in butter or oil and then cooked in broth and usually with seasonings. It can be served as a side dish or with Greek yoghurt on the side and with lots and lots of herbs. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups medium grain white rice
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cups of Broth & Co Chicken Bone Broth
  • 2 cups of filtered water
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 3 cardamon pods or 1/8 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 cinnamon stick or 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of slithered almonds, husk removed

 

DIRECTIONS

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan and ad the onions cooking until translucent.
  • Wash the rice in cold water
  • Place all ingredients in a rice cooker 
  • Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork
  • Place it in your favourite serving  bowl or platter and sprinkle with herbs
  • This is also great with black currants or raisins. You can add them in with all the other ingredients
