Broth & Co Featured in WellBeing Magazine

Looking back at a 2018 sponsored brand feature about traditional broth, modern convenience and everyday cooking.

In June 2018, Broth & Co appeared on the WellBeing Magazine website in a sponsored brand feature introducing our bone broths to readers interested in food, natural living and everyday wellbeing. The feature captured an early chapter in our story: a family business taking a traditional kitchen staple and making it easier to use in modern Australian homes.

FEATURE AT A GLANCE
Published 15 June 2018 on the WellBeing website. The page is clearly labelled “Sponsored by Broth & Co”. It introduced the founders, described the traditional 24-hour simmering method used at the time and presented liquid and powdered broths as practical options for drinking and cooking.

A Transparent Look Back

Media archives are most useful when described accurately. This was not an independent product review or an editorial award. It was sponsored content created to share the Broth & Co story with WellBeing readers. That distinction matters, and it does not diminish the value of preserving the feature as part of our company history.

The Story WellBeing Shared

The feature introduced Broth & Co as a husband-and-wife business shaped by two complementary backgrounds: Peter’s work in fitness and Nellie’s experience as a pharmacist. It described a shared interest in traditional broths and in creating convenient products for people who wanted the flavour and versatility of slow-cooked broth without making every batch from scratch.

The 2018 page referred to Australian grass-fed beef and free-range chicken bones, traditional preparation and a 24-hour simmer. It also presented the range available at the time, including ready-to-consume liquid broths and powdered formats designed for convenience.

Why Traditional Broth Still Resonates

Broth is older than any wellness trend. Across food cultures, cooks have used bones, vegetables, water, herbs, spices and time to create foundations for soups, stews, sauces and family meals. The ingredients differ from place to place, but the underlying idea is recognisable: use what is available, extract flavour carefully and turn simple ingredients into something useful.

That history is one reason bone broth continues to find a place in modern kitchens. It can be both traditional and practical. A cook may use it to carry the aromatics in a soup, enrich a pan sauce, cook grains or legumes, or simply make leftovers feel like a new meal.

Bone Broth in Everyday Cooking

The most enduring part of the 2018 story is versatility. Bone broth does not need a complicated ritual. It earns pantry space by helping ordinary meals taste complete.

·  Warm it and enjoy it as a savoury drink.

·  Use it as the base for vegetable, noodle, bean or meat soups.

·  Add it to stews, braises and slow-cooked dishes.

·  Use it in sauces, gravies and pan reductions.

·  Cook rice, quinoa, couscous or other grains in prepared broth instead of plain water.

·  Add it to mashed vegetables, savoury oats or one-pan meals.

What Bone Broth Contributes

Bone broth is a savoury food that contributes protein and a broad profile of amino acids, including collagen-associated amino acids such as glycine, proline and hydroxyproline. Its exact nutrition depends on the ingredients, concentration and format. It should be understood within the whole meal rather than treated as a substitute for vegetables, fibre-rich foods or varied protein sources.

This is also where liquid broths, concentrated broths, powders, collagen peptides and complete protein foods need to be distinguished. They can all be useful, but they are not nutritionally identical and they do not serve precisely the same purpose.

From an Early Feature to Ongoing Research

The WellBeing feature belongs to 2018. Since then, Broth & Co has continued developing its educational library and investigating the finished product. A later eight-week study examined participant-reported digestive outcomes and a lactulose:mannitol measure used in intestinal-permeability research. The study does not turn bone broth into a treatment, but it adds product-specific evidence that can be considered alongside its design and limitations.

Thank You to WellBeing

We remain grateful for the opportunity to introduce Broth & Co to WellBeing readers in 2018. Looking back, the feature reflects ideas that still guide us: respect traditional food knowledge, make nourishing cooking more practical and communicate clearly about what food can—and cannot—do.
